Multiple Legends Cars National Championship with MRF Tyres title winner John Mickel (Horsham) has been confirmed in third position in the 2019 standings, following an appeal hearing related to a penalty from the season finale at Brands Hatch in November.

Mickel, who concluded the last weekend of the 25th anniversary Legends Cars season fourth in the championship behind Sy Harraway (Weston-super-Mare), has now had the full 470 points originally credited from round 14 restored to his total – putting him 135 points clear of Harraway.

Excluded from the results of the final race of the campaign on Sunday, 3rd November, following an on-track incident, Mickel appealed the decision and has now been reinstated to his original sixth position in the 14-lap contest.

Additionally, fellow Mickel Motorsport driver Paul Simmons (Lingfield) has been crowned Masters Cup Champion for a fourth consecutive season as a result of the impact of the appeal on the points standings. He also concludes the 2019 season seventh in the overall championship.

Following the Christmas and New Year break, the Legends Cars National Championship with MRF Tyres will kick-start its 26th season at the Autosport International Show between Thursday, 9th January, and Sunday, 12th January, at Birmingham NEC.

In addition to a presence alongside touring car team HMS Racing on Stand 2590 in Hall 2, seven Legends Cars drivers – including reigning champion Miles Rudman (Sutton Coldfield) and the first ever category champion Tick Steward (Colchester) – will showcase the country’s best big grid racing in the ‘Live Action Arena’ shows.
