There was a Legends Cars first at Donington Park this past weekend, as we were fortunate enough to have a rolling road (dyno) on site throughout the race meeting.
The aim was simple – to continue ensuring fair and close competition across the entire Legends Cars Championship grid.
At random, a large number of cars were selected and put through power testing, allowing us to check engines were performing within a pre-set horsepower tolerance. The rolling road also gave us the opportunity to carry out additional diagnostic checks where required.
Should any engine have been found to be outside the permitted tolerance, it would have been removed for further inspection and strip-down.
The results were extremely encouraging. The majority of engines tested were within just 4hp of one another, with only two falling slightly below the expected range. One of those engines has since been removed for further checks to establish the reason why.
For us, as a professional championship and organisation, this is another important step forward.
Legends Cars has always been about close, competitive racing, and introducing on-site power testing gives us another tool to help maintain a level playing field for every driver and team in the national series.
We’re committed to continuing to develop the checks and procedures behind the scenes, all making the Legends Cars Championship one of the fairest and most closely matched race series in the UK.
