I’ve had a hankering for getting into racing for a few years, having done plenty of track days, but it’s always been a question of where to get started and how much will it cost. Having known John Mickel for a few years Legends Racing proved to be the perfect choice. Low budget, simple cars, and bags of fun. Plus a great social side which helps to include my family in the sport.
My first race was Brands Hatch at Easter and it was a baptism by rain. An early visit to the gravel showed I had a lot to learn but the rest of the weekend was great fun and immensely rewarding. As a novice my first few races were started from the back of the grid to get used to the whole process. But by the time I got to Anglesey I was in the grid draw and ended up with a pole position. The more experienced drivers on the grid soon passed me but just to be in the mix and action was a massive thrill. I can’t wait for my next outing as I just want to keep learning and improving, and hopefully in the not too distant future I’ll be able to bump a few bumpers with the rest of the grid. A big thank you to the Mickel Motorsport crew for helping my dream become a reality.
