Paul Musselle, former Legends Cars race winner and the category’s original television commentator, is to make a welcome return to action in the 5/8 scale pocket rockets, beginning with this coming weekend’s opening event of 2023 at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.

As part of a Team Car entry run by Mickel Motorsport, Musselle – who is the CEO of Giggabox – will contest the first two events of the Legends Cars Championship with MRF Tyres in addition to the full Legends Cars Elite Cup with JLM, which will race as support to the British Touring Car Championship.

After the Cadwell Park event this weekend, he will race in the Elite Cup at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in May before then returning to the Legends Cars Championship – also at Brands – in June. His two other appearances will be the Elite Cup events at Croft at the end of July and Knockhill in August.

For the final two events of the Legends Cars Championship with MRF Tyres season, at Snetterton 300 Circuit and Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, the No.28 green and white Giggabox liveried car will be piloted by a yet-to-be-named driver.

Musselle, a former commentator for Sky Sports and who voiced the Legends Cars action during its early years, competed in the Legends ‘Media Car’ on several occasions between 1999 and 2009 and then contested a full season in 2010.

After well over a decade away, he is back and ready to get stuck in during the opening two rounds, six races, of the Legends Cars Championship with MRF Tyres this weekend where a grid of almost 30 cars will line-up.

The entry list for Cadwell Park features some incredible talent, including last year’s Vice-Champion Will Gibson, five-time former champion – and team boss of Mickel Motorsport – John Mickel, top four championship finisher Marcus Pett, the 2022 Rookie Champion Ben Higgins and, his father, three-time British Rally Champion Mark Higgins.

Paul Musselle:
“I’m delighted to be back on the Legends Cars grid with our Giggabox car and really looking forward to getting things underway at Cadwell this weekend. It’s fantastic to be back in such a competitive and exciting championship, especially with the Mickel Motorsport team, and I can’t wait to be part of the BTCC events with the Elite Cup as well.

“We are thrilled to showcase the Giggabox name and brand to such a huge audience. Hosting guests at such prestigious venues, with VIP hospitality, means we can share quality time with them, all in a fun environment.”

Phil Cooper – Legends Cars Championship with MRF Tyres Owner:
“Paul has such a long history with Legends Cars, both as a commentator and driver, so we really are very happy to see him back and looking forward to seeing how he gets on! It’s the biggest ever season for Legends Cars, certainly in terms of the profile, so I’m sure the exposure for Giggabox from a marketing point of view will be incredibly beneficial.”

Qualifying at Cadwell Park will get underway at 09.50 on Saturday, 15th April, with Heat One of round one starting at 12.20, Heat Two commencing at 14.55 and the round one Final following at 17.25.
