Britain’s most action-packed circuit racing is set to resume less than a month from now with the confirmation today, Tuesday, 23rd June, of a provisional 30-race post-lockdown calendar for the Legends Cars National Championship with MRF Tyres.

Like all motor racing within the UK, the Legends Cars have been sidelined in recent months due to the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic – the original 2020 season, of course, having been scheduled to start back at the beginning of April.

With the Government now beginning to ease the lockdown measures which have been in place nationwide since March, though, it has enabled the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) to put together a fantastic new 10 round Legends Cars season which will take place behind ‘closed doors’.

Planned to get underway at Croft in North Yorkshire over the weekend 11th/12th July, the all-action championship will then visit Donington Park in Leicestershire on 22nd/23rd August for the first of four events where Legends will team-up with the British Truck Racing Championship.

Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norfolk will host the third event of the season on 19th/20th September before a visit to Pembrey in South Wales over the weekend 3rd/4th October. The season finale, as always, is set to take place at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent on 7th/8th November.

Fully respecting the devastating impact COVID-19 has had, and continues to have, on the UK population, the organisers of the Legends Cars National Championship with MRF Tyres and organising club BARC are determined to ensure all procedures and protocols are strictly followed to ensure the safest possible working environment.

“We’re so pleased to be able to reveal the 30-race calendar which we’ve been working on with the BARC in recent weeks”, said Legends Cars National Championship owner Phil Cooper, “It’s obviously been an incredibly difficult time for the motorsport industry since the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, but that’s nothing in comparison to the devastation of so many lives lost across the world.

“Our thoughts go out to all of those who have been affected so horrendously by this dreadful virus, and we’d also like to take the opportunity to send our sincere thanks and support to the incredible work of all those doing so much for the nation’s safety in the NHS.”

Cooper added: “All of us from the championship, and of course the fantastic team at the BARC, are determined to provide the safest environment we can at the track with procedures and protocols in place to protect everyone’s well-being. We can’t wait to be back on track with the first rounds at Croft in July, we’re looking forward to an exciting and action-packed season.”
