Legends Cars Championship action will feature twice at British Touring Car Championship events in 2027 as part of an outstanding seven date calendar for the pocket rockets – and there is an exciting evolution for the prestigious Elite Cup which now becomes a single event battle next November.
Revealed this morning, Wednesday, 28th October, the Legends will race alongside the BTCC at the category’s season-opening meeting at Donington Park National Circuit in April, and will then rejoin the touring cars for the journey to Knockhill in Scotland in August.
This, of course, means more fantastic exposure for the Legends Cars to the thousands of spectators trackside at both events, added to the major benefit of live television coverage of the Sunday action at both Donington and Knockhill on ITV4 and ITVX.
After enjoying a spectacular maiden appearance as part of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup’s British round at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit this year, the Legends Cars have been invited back to be a key part of the support package when GTWCE returns to the Kent venue next May. As with the BTCC dates, the GTWCE event is a massive highlight of the 2027 Legends Cars campaign.
The 5/8 scale pocket rockets will then head back to their spiritual home in West Kingsdown, this time on the Indy Circuit configuration, in mid-June as part of the immensely popular American Speedfest – the first of three US-themed meetings.
Next will come a trip to Norfolk for the USA Snetterton 300 in July, and following the August visit north of the border with the BTCC the Legends Cars will head to Oulton Park in Cheshire a couple of weeks later for the single-day US AutoShow event.
As this year, the finale of the Legends Cars Championship will take place at Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit in Leicestershire with the last two rounds of the season being held across the weekend 25th/26th September.
That won’t be all for the Legends in 2027 though, as the Legends Cars Elite Cup evolves into a single event battle for supremacy across the weekend 6th/7th November next year at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit – running as part of the British Truck Racing Championship’s annual ‘fireworks’ spectacular.
Over the first four years of its existence, the Elite Cup has been part of the main season. Now, championship owner and two-time Legends Cars Champion Will Gibson is seeking to establish the Elite Cup as a standalone event in a similar style to the renowned Formula Ford Festival.
Will Gibson – Legends Cars Championship Owner:
“We really are absolutely delighted with our 2027 calendar for the Legends Cars Championship, and incredibly excited to present the Elite Cup as a standalone meeting for the first time to round out next season’s action. We’re very grateful to Alan Gow and his team at TOCA to welcome us back for two BTCC events next year, the exposure that brings to Legends Cars is off the scale.
“This year’s event with GT World Challenge was one of the true stand-out meetings, a huge crowd and the chance to race on the Brands GP layout, and we can’t wait to do it all again in 2027. It goes without saying everyone loves MSVR’s American themed events and so we can’t wait for American Speedfest, the USA Snetterton 300 and the US AutoShow at Oulton.
“Donington GP is the perfect place to end the season, this year’s event was fantastic, and so it’s great Donington will book-end the championship next year. We’ve given a lot of thought to the Elite Cup and really thought it deserved to be its own race meeting, so we’re excited to announce it will run as a standalone event with the Trucks at Brands next November – it’s going to be very special.”
